B2S All About Me's!~

I had my students work on all about me tee's as a take home activity.  They turned out really good and the students had a great time sharing them with their friends.
Back to School all about me
I also had my students work on a triangle all about me piece to make a class banner for the hallway.  This is how it turned out...
We also did a Steppin' into 2nd grade art project.  Each student wrote about what they are excited for about 2nd grade.  The laces on the shoes was a great activity for fine motor skills.  I was proud of how well this went for the students.

It's Apple Week!~

This week is all about apples in our classroom.  We started today about different things we already know about apples.  We cut apples in half and stamped them with red and green paint onto our paper.  Some made a star and some didn't.  It was messy fun!

What is our favorite type of apple.  Our winner was Green!  The kiddos loved trying the different kinds of apples.

We started by talking about what we already knew about apples.

We also made applesauce.  This was my first time making it and it went GREAT!

Crockpot Applesauce
 *10 Peeled and cored apples
*1/2 cup water
*1 cup sugar
*1/2 tsp cinnamon

We cooked the apples on high for 4 hours.  Then I turned it down to keep warm for about 30 minutes.  Through out this time I had the students come up and mash the apples.  We used a potato masher.  I had them do this every 30 minutes.  It turned out fantastic.

We did a graphing activity afterward to tell if we liked it or not!  We had 17 likes and 4 dislikes!

Summer Vacation and NEW Products!~

I am on Summer Vacation!!  It has been 1 week already and my goal this Summer is to create all the products I didn't have time to make this school year on TPT!

I have created my first SUMMER Teacher Pay Teachers Item.  It is a classroom management clip chart.  I know a lot of these clip charts are floating around, but mine is unique to my classroom needs.  I will {cross my fingers}hopefully be teaching Kindergarten next year.  I have changed my classroom management strategies ALOT over the last 5 years of teaching, but I feel that for kindergarten you have to make it FUN and SIMPLE!  So here it is.....

April Easter Bunnies~

Easter Bunny Art, April Art, 2nd Grade Ideas, Hidden Art
We made Spring bunnies around Easter as a fun way to get excited for the animals  coming back out.  They turned out really cute.  First we used a black crayon to make the grass.  Then we made a big 1/2 circle for the bunnies head.  The ears were the most tricky because one had to look like it was folded over.  We practiced drawing triangles and connecting them to one another on a different piece of paper first.  Then we drew ours using a pencil and when we got it JUST write we used our black crayon.  When we were all finished we colored inside our lines using oil pastels.

Here is a project I have wanted to do for so long.  I purchased the board I needed from Menard's for maybe $4.  I had my dad cut it for me and I got 3 boards out of the 1 big one.  Then I luckily found batting at a garage sale this summer for 50 cents.  Lucky day, unfortunately I ran out and had to make a run to JoAnn's fabric anyway.
I added the batting to the board.  I recommend a lot of batting, because the seats will go flat very quickly if there isn't enough in the top part.  Then I put the fabric on top.  Pulled it tight and used a staple gun and stapled around the outside on the back.

My finished project!  Super easy to make.  My students love them!

Valentine's Day 2014

Better late than never!  I've been soooo busy in my new school, new house, and with my new husband.  Sigh.  If only there were 60 hours in a day I would have enough time to get everything done, and then maybe not.  Wishful thinking I know.  Valentine's Day was super fun, we gave out our Valentine's, went skating, and had pizza.  Crazy. Busy. Day.  For Valentine's Day I decided to make my own Koolaide Valentine's with a little inspiration from Pinterest.  This is my finished project! :)

I also chose to have my 2nd graders make their own Valentine Boxes in school so that parents wouldn't have to worry about making a box and sending it.  We chose to make Valentine Monsters! They turned out great!

Halloween

Halloween is always so much fun with scary art projects.  This project is from {A Cupcake for the Teacher}.  She always has such fun art/writing projects.

I LOVE decorating my door for the different seasons and themes.  If only it wasn't sooooooooooo time consuming.  This is probably one of my favorites.
