Wacky Witch Wednesday~

 On Wednesday we had Wacky Witch Wednesday.  We made our very own witches.

 They turned out adorable.
On Halloween we made {Witches Brew} trail mix.  These were the ingredients:
  • Baked Skeleton Bones (Pretzel Sticks)
  • Braised Beetles (Milk Duds)
  • Spider Eggs (M&M's)
  • Fingernails (Candy corn)
  • Dirty Shoelaces (Twizzlers)
  • Earthworm Knots (Miniature Pretzel Twists)
  • Flattened Slugs (Peanuts)
  • Freeze Dried Drops of Blood (Craisins)
  • Ghost Guts (Mini Marshmallow)
  • Goblin's Belly Button Lint Balls (Peanut M&M's)
*The kiddos loved it, but thought it was a little gross when I was telling them what each item was!

Change of the Name...to Mrs. Lee

 This past weekend I took the plunge and changed from Miss Heitkamp to Mrs. Lee.  Coming back on Wednesday was a little weird when my kiddos were calling me Mrs. Lee.  It might take a little while to get used to.
On Thursday I left early to get wedding stuff done.  A co-worker took this picture with my kids.  How sweet.  It even made our wedding slideshow.  : )

~1st Day...Whooooop Whoooop!

My First Day of 2nd Grade Chalkboard!  Thanks to JoAnn's Fabrics I found this and just had to spray paint the chalkboard part because I didn't like the color it was.  I then painted the outside wood a turquoise Color!
Turned out Super Duper Cute!!

My Classroom!?!?

Today we started our 1st day of 2nd grade and I am excited to say I have my classroom mostly decorated the way I want it to be.  I will be adding more pictures shortly, but this is just a few.

My welcome door and my behavior clip chart.  {Thanks to a cupcake for the teacher}

I used chevron wrapping paper from Target for my background and the cloud behind the month is also from Target's dollar section!  Gotta love that.

Since my room is an owl theme I used my reading charts for our weekly reading incentives.  It says "Look Whoo's Reading!"

My favorite place in my room is the reading corner.  I have book boxes and leveled books neatly organized on the bookshelves.  I also have -Genres- placed easily to read on the back wall.  These were from Ana A on {teachers pay teachers}

I have 1 bulletin board at the back of my room that I split in half.  The left side is Writing and the right side is Math.  I am going to use these for writing and math centers.  I have the bins to put the writing worksheets in for when we start this.  These are from  {a cupcake for the teacher}

Getting Ready for the NEW year!

Since I haven't been able to get into my classroom yet I have been working on a few projects at my house.  I decided since I am moving up to 2nd grade that I should change my classroom management chart.  I found this awesome freebie from {A cupcake for the Teacher}!  It goes great with my chevron theme I'm working on this year.

I also decided to make my own Homework Folders this year instead of buying them from "Really Good Stuff".  I have these for you to buy at my teacherspayteachers store. I love the owl theme!

1. Do you entertain friends with kindergarten (or other school kid) stories? Got a quick one to share? Yes especially my parents.  My first year teaching I had a boy go into my classroom bathroom and come yelling out "Teacher, Teacher, there is an animal in the bathroom,"  I was new to the school and I had a scary closet in the back of the room and I thought there could possible be a mouse in the bathroom...so the boy took me into the bathroom and pointed under the sink and said "Right there right there,"  Well it turned out to be a cricket, but he was pretty worked up about the huge ANIMAL!
2. What do you usually have for lunch at school? A salad or sandwhich
3.  Does your school district include high school? Yes

Another Teacher Pay Teacher Item!~!

New Sight Word Work for Centers or for unit review.  These go right along with McGraw-Hill Reading Series! The student can read the word, stamp it, trace it, and write it.  These are great practice sheets for students that are struggling to learn the words.

Little Detective's Mystery Box

Finally have my Mystery box completed from Babbling Abby!!  This is great and I found the box at Hobby Lobby.  I can't wait to use this next year!

Goldilocks and the 3 Bears~

This week it was finally our turn to preform our short plays for our parents and friends.  This year our class performed "Goldilocks and The 3 Bears".  I'm so proud of how well the kindergartners did and how they remembered their lines so well.

 The 3 Bears

Rockets~

This week we were lucky enough to have the high school shop class come down into our classroom and help us make rockets.  We used pop bottles and decorated our rockets to make them our very own.
 The students were more than excited to shoot them off!
 Fun Science project!

ARGHHH!! Our Pirate Ship~

We were lucky enough to have a high school class make a dramatic play Pirate Ship for our classroom.  They also made us eye patches, binocular, telescopes and helped us make our own pirate hats!

 I let the students play in it at Center Time! They love it!

 High school students helping us make our hats out of newspapers!

Earth Day~

I have been very busy lately coaching track and recently getting engaged :) that I have been slacking big time on our class blog.  This week we have been talking about how important it is to keep our Earth clean.  We did an art/writing activity.  We used green and blue paint to make our very own Earth's.  I had each student squirt paint onto one side of the circle.  Then they had to fold the paper in half and squeeze the paint so it covered the whole circle.

 Taa-Daa!

We wrote "The Earth" on the top.  Then each student had to pick an idea how they would help our Earth.  Some wrote that they would plant trees and others wrote that they would pick up trash.

Easter Art~

We made our very own Easter Eggs.  I used sweet and condensed milk and mixed it with neon food coloring.  This is always one of my favorite activities to do, because the sweet and condensed milk gets hard and shiny and is something different to use to paint.

More Alphabet Party~

Here are our completed Capital and lowercase letter posters!

Each student was supposed to bring in their favorite animal.  We also picked out some other animals so we would have enough for each letter!
Now that we are done with our alphabet wall...it's turning into our Math wall!
