Back to School Gift

For open house I usually have a little treat for my kiddos to enjoy and get excited about the new year. I created these new gift tags.  I taped them onto {Pop Rocks, 2 mini bags} and I will have them on top of my kiddos desks when they come into our classroom for open house.  Check back shortly for a link to the free download on TPT!

Back to School 2015-2016

This year I am going to try to update my blog more than I did last year.  This is my goal.  We will see how productive I am.  We don't start school until after labor day, but I am getting an early start this year.  We have 2 showcases we have to update before school starts for our 2nd grad wing. We got started early so we wouldn't be stressed about them this year.  This is what we came up with...
Bulletin Board, 2nd Grade, Bright, Pom Poms
We chose to use black fabric for both cases.  One case we could decorate however we wanted to {above} and the other case we had to focus around out Positive Behavior Interventions and Support system.  I may be biased, but I think they turned our pretty fabulous.

B2S All About Me's!~

I had my students work on all about me tee's as a take home activity.  They turned out really good and the students had a great time sharing them with their friends.
Back to School all about me
I also had my students work on a triangle all about me piece to make a class banner for the hallway.  This is how it turned out...
We also did a Steppin' into 2nd grade art project.  Each student wrote about what they are excited for about 2nd grade.  The laces on the shoes was a great activity for fine motor skills.  I was proud of how well this went for the students.

It's Apple Week!~

This week is all about apples in our classroom.  We started today about different things we already know about apples.  We cut apples in half and stamped them with red and green paint onto our paper.  Some made a star and some didn't.  It was messy fun!
apples, Johnny Appleseed, Parts of an apple, Favorite Apple
What is our favorite type of apple.  Our winner was Green!  The kiddos loved trying the different kinds of apples.
Favorite Apple, Apple graphing
We started by talking about what we already knew about apples.
What we know about apples, apple investigation

We also made applesauce.  This was my first time making it and it went GREAT!

Crockpot Applesauce
 *10 Peeled and cored apples
*1/2 cup water
*1 cup sugar
*1/2 tsp cinnamon

We cooked the apples on high for 4 hours.  Then I turned it down to keep warm for about 30 minutes.  Through out this time I had the students come up and mash the apples.  We used a potato masher.  I had them do this every 30 minutes.  It turned out fantastic.

We did a graphing activity afterward to tell if we liked it or not!  We had 17 likes and 4 dislikes!
