April Easter Bunnies~

Easter Bunny Art, April Art, 2nd Grade Ideas, Hidden Art
We made Spring bunnies around Easter as a fun way to get excited for the animals  coming back out.  They turned out really cute.  First we used a black crayon to make the grass.  Then we made a big 1/2 circle for the bunnies head.  The ears were the most tricky because one had to look like it was folded over.  We practiced drawing triangles and connecting them to one another on a different piece of paper first.  Then we drew ours using a pencil and when we got it JUST write we used our black crayon.  When we were all finished we colored inside our lines using oil pastels.

Easter Art~

We made our very own Easter Eggs.  I used sweet and condensed milk and mixed it with neon food coloring.  This is always one of my favorite activities to do, because the sweet and condensed milk gets hard and shiny and is something different to use to paint.

Egg Dying~

For one of our Easter projects we dyed eggs.  Every year I like to do this with the students because I always have a handful of students that have never had the chance to do it at home.  I always loved dying eggs when I was little and the students really enjoy changing the white egg to a fun bright color.  Each student dyed 3 eggs a piece.  I found a recipe for baking the eggs instead of boiling them.  I thought this would be easier than boiling 40 eggs.  I put them in muffin tins at 325 degrees for 30 minutes.  I had 3 break in my first batch in the oven so I took them out a few minutes early when I baked the 2nd batch!
